Post-GRL 2023, GRL 2024, and Nanowrimo Plans

GayRomLit 2023 is history... I had a great time and hope everyone who attended feels the same.

First, a big thank-you to Carol Lynne and her staff for all of their hard work. I know that it’s like working an unpaid job in the year leading up to the convention to do this.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table in the author lounge and/or book signing. I also met people in the hangout room and in the hallways. GRL has such a relaxed environment. It’s one of the things I’ve really appreciated about the convention these past two years. A special shout-out to Alaina, Lee, Pilar, Dolorianne, Mary, the two nice women from Germany (hope you enjoy the book :-)), Marguerite, Xio, Lori, Rye, Mia, Sienna, Ro, Rhys, Venona, and Freesia. (I apologize if I’ve left anyone out... it was a hectic weekend.)

Next year the retreat will be in Kansas City. By the way, the dates have changed since the original announcement at the retreat: the new dates are Sept. 4-7, 2024. See Carol’s post here for more information.

Every year, I look at the calendar and decide which conventions make sense for me to attend, considering my writing/publishing business and also my personal preferences. My writing doesn’t neatly fit into “regular” m/m romance, or regular science fiction, or anything else, and my readership has been fairly small to date. I’ve accepted this as a natural consequence of writing exactly what I want as opposed to writing to market, though obviously I would love to have more readers.

As part of expanding my readership, I put The Queendoms Series in Kindle Unlimited six months ago. I’ve decided to expand my reach by going wide with all of my books on different distributor platforms in ebook and paperback formats, so I’ll be taking The Queendoms Series out of KU in January 2024.

More on this in a future post... but you might want to download the seven novels of The Queendoms Series soon if you were thinking of reading them. ;-)

And finally - Nanowrimo is only days away. What will I write in November?

Years ago, I began a short story series called SDS Robots at Evernight Publishing. The first three stories are Aftermarket Lover, Master Lover, and Beta Lover.

I think of SDS Robots as my erotic romance series as they’re easily my most sexually-explicit stories. I’ve always intended the series to end at five stories. I’ve worked out the plots of the final two stories and will be writing them during Nanowrimo.

The rest of Nanowrimo will be taken up with other short stories - and a non-fiction project that I’ve had in mind for a while.

That’s it for now... see you next month. :-)
