The Queendoms Series Is Now Available on Kindle Unlimited

I’m excited to announce that The Queendoms Series is now available on Kindle Unlimited!

As I designed the series’ new covers, I was pondering ways to increase readership when the stunningly obvious answer came to me. Why not put the series in KU?

Years ago, I listened to a veteran author who heavily criticized Kindle Unlimited. He objected to its exclusivity requirement and counseled to go wide with one’s books.

I understand the argument, but instead of agreeing and then sleeping on the question all these years I should have paid more attention to what the writers who write in my own genres do. There are a lot of m/m romance and science fiction books on KU and there’s no reason why my books shouldn’t be there too.

Sometimes it takes a moment like this to let go of these bits of traditional thinking about publishing. I can be a late adopter when it comes to some things and I guess KU is now the prime example of that.

I hope you enjoy the new covers. If you remember the old covers for Homestead, Sanctuary, and To the Farthest Shore you’ll notice the resemblance. I liked the design for those covers, so I’ve now made the entire seven-book series look that way.

Back to KU... I’ve never known how to market The Queendoms Series. I love the characters and the universe but the whole thing is cross-genre to the max. It’s m/m romance, but also science fiction (post-apocalyptic), and oh, it’s set in a matriarchal society so it’s also fairly feminist, and there’s politics involved because the men are starting to revolt, and the pairings are multicultural and interracial, and, and...

I think what I’m saying is that something as cross-genre as what I’ve written is maybe just not that marketable in conventional terms. And I’ve never known how to market it in unconventional terms.

All I can say is that I loved writing the series. For eight years I lived with these characters and loved them, and loved the universe that I created for them. Now that the books are in Kindle Unlimited I hope you’ll give them a try. No guarantees, but... maybe you’ll fall in love with them too. ;-)
