Daredevil Prince is now available at Kindle Unlimited and Amazon as an ebook! (Link below!)
Here’s the description:
When an American voice actor and the Japanese voice actor who plays the same role in an anime series meet in Tokyo—sparks fly!
Jake Rowan is a struggling Hollywood actor. He’s mostly known for being “Pool Guy” in a pool supplies commercial. So he’s thrilled when he lands a role dubbing the wild Prince Erik in a fantasy anime called Daredevil Prince and is invited to Japan to do appearances with the Japanese voice cast.
In Japan, Prince Erik is voiced by Shinsuke Shiratori, a handsome rising talent with the dubious nickname of “the Ice King.” Shinsuke’s remote, unapproachable personality intrigues Jake who is instantly attracted to him.
As he pursues Shinsuke, the air of mystery around him deepens. There’s something he shares with Shinsuke—that he thought he’d buried long ago—and now the two men must face it so they can be together.
It’s been a whirlwind six weeks from idea to finished book. From the moment I thought, what if an American dub actor and the Japanese seiyuu (voice actor) who plays the same role in an anime got together?, I’ve been working on it nonstop. And here it is. :-)
Daredevil Prince represents a departure from my usual kind of story. It’s lighthearted and fun and only gets serious when it needs to (you’ll see what I mean once you read it). The idea for the story came from my years of being a Japanese anime and seiyuu fan and working in the English-language publishing industry for anime-related and manga books.
I’ve always been intrigued by Japanese seiyuu culture. As you’ll read in the book, seiyuu are idols in Japan. They’re like movie stars. Someone who knows the culture told me once that she considered seiyuu to be more talented than “regular” actors as they bring so many different characters to life, and in addition, many have successful singing careers.
The seiyuu record their anime roles in recording studios across Tokyo and fans follow their every move and gossip about them. It’s a subculture that has no counterpart here in the U.S. or anywhere else that I can tell. It was a fascinating setting to set a story in and I hope I did it justice!
I did an interview on my anime blog years ago with an American fan of seiyuu culture. She lived and worked in Tokyo and went to a lot of seiyuu events like the ones in Daredevil Prince. Here’s the link:

I’m already working on the paperback version and it should be available in time for GayRomLit.
I hope you enjoy Daredevil Prince! More to come on this release soon!
