Week 2 – Writing The Female Gaze – September 8-14
Week two of writing The Female Gaze went okay. I was tired off and on this week, probably recuperating from the bad heat wave we went through here in California. It lasted for two weeks and ended a few days ago, and I’m only raising my head now to realize that autumn is nearly here.
I readjusted my word goal from 30,000 words down to 20,000. I think it will go over 20,000. I keep hitting little brick walls as I write where I don’t know what to write next; and then, if I sit long enough, something comes to me and I continue writing. It hasn’t been the smoothest process but I keep putting words on the page.
It’s still a messy draft. I’m basically opening my head and letting words drop onto the page without any filters. I know there are repetitive parts, and whole pieces of text that are out of place and will have to be moved elsewhere, etc. I think it’s important, though, not to stop and try to organize anything right now. I’m choosing to trust the process.
Hopefully one of these days I will report that the draft has miraculously come together... but today is not that day, lol. I’ll update again next week.
