Kaminishi: Four Seasons Cover Art and Kaminishi Announcement
Hope everyone had a great summer. :-)
Here’s the lovely cover art for Kaminishi: Four Seasons, the sequel to Kaminishi. The artist is Anne Cain, who did the cover for the original novel Kaminishi four years ago.
The release date for Kaminishi: Four Seasons is December 1, 2015.
And speaking of Kaminishi, I have an announcement.
Kaminishi's second edition will be released on September 15, 2015 by DSP Publications (DSPP), a Dreamspinner Press imprint. The book is available now for pre-ordering at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, OmniLit and Google Play.
The story remains the same as in the original. The new edition corrects some Japanese language and cultural errors I made in the original, and has received a fresh copy edit.
One difference that readers of the original would notice is a name change for a significant character. Shinjaro Kaminishi is now Shinjirō Kaminishi, or “Shinjirou” as it will be in the ebook version. (Ebook formats don’t recognize omicrons, or the short line above the “o.”)
When I wrote Kaminishi, I was aware that “Shinjaro” is a highly uncommon given name in Japan but I used it anyway, mainly for the alliterative effect with Shintaro Kawakami toward the end of the book (Shinjaro/Shintaro).
The editors suggested the change to the more commonly-accepted “Shinjirō.” I thought I would find it hard to accept the change, but actually I got used to the name Shinjirō more quickly than I expected.
Anne Cain’s beautiful cover for Kaminishi has not been changed; it’s the cover for the second edition as well.
If you’ve never read Kaminishi, I hope you’ll consider reading its second edition. Plus, it contains a preview of Kaminishi: Four Seasons as a bonus at the end. :-)
